If you don’t have an air conditioning unit or you are trying to cut down on your energy usage during the hot weather, here are some tips that will keep you cooler:
Use a dehumidifier
While some people just associate using a dehumidifier when they’re sick, they can also be used in a place where you will be spending a lot of time in the heat, such as a living room. Obviously, as the name suggests, it will take some of the humidity out of the air.
Go to the basement
If you don’t have a basement that is completely filthy or full, this is the ideal place to go during the hottest hours of the day. Basements can be 10-15 degrees cooler than upstairs and will feel like you have your face inside a freezer in comparison.
Keep your curtains closed
Ever notice how quickly your car gets heated up in the summer without the windows open? That’s because the cabin of your car is mostly composed of windows which give the sun more of a heating effect. When you’re not around your home, keep the curtains closed to avoid the same effect from happening in your house as much.
